The Alaska Cancer Wisdom Library captures short, practical videos from real Alaskans — organized by cancer type and treatment phase — so people can find the right kind of support at the right time without getting lost in information overload.

How It Works

• Formalize partnerships with Alaska cancer centers, navigators, nonprofits, and community organizations to host on-site story capture days

• Capture short (1–3 minute) videos through both in-person interviews and self-submissions, so Alaskans of all ages can share practical, hard-won guidance with clear consent and privacy safeguards

• Organize every video by cancer type and phase of the journey so newly diagnosed patients can quickly find what applies to them

• Provide access through Alaska partners so people statewide — including rural and remote communities where patients often travel long distances to reach cancer care — can find support when they need it most

FY27 Project Plan (3 YEARS)

This request funds a lean statewide capacity build delivered through contracted services.

YEAR 1 — Build the statewide capture workflow

• Formalize Alaska partner pipeline (cancer centers, navigators, nonprofits)

• Year 1 focuses on Mat-Su and Anchorage because they are Alaska’s primary cancer care and referral hubs

• Conduct capture days in Anchorage and Mat-Su, and begin limited statewide hub travel

• Publish consistent monthly content with a safe workflow and clear quality standards

• Launch a statewide partner sharing system (clinic handouts, navigator referrals, and direct links)

YEAR 2 — Scale content volume + partnerships

• Expand capture blocks to Fairbanks and Juneau

• Increase publishing throughput through vendor/contracted content and publishing support

• Expand statewide nonprofit and provider referral partners

• Improve reporting and outcome tracking

YEAR 3 — Stabilize + sustain

• Maintain statewide capture and publishing rhythm

• Strengthen partner distribution and outreach documentation

• Formalize long-term sustainability plan

Full-Cost Model (for Transparency)

The full cost to operate the Alaska Cancer Wisdom Library at sustainable statewide scale is estimated at approximately $1.28M over three years. This FY27 request is intentionally limited to the program cap of $950,000.
